It is possible. I'm proof of that. It quite sucks.

It sucks..I'm sure your goal was healthy. Now that your BMI is so low, are you getting help from your surgeons office?

Wishing you the best,

Jenn

That is one of my more constant fears. Since I reached goal I have been making constant adjustments to my exercise and nutrition to try to make sure I don't dip below the "cushion" I set for myself. I did fall 2 pounds below it at one point, but I think I have things pretty well under control right now.

The official BMI for underweight is under 18.4 and your BMI is 18.2 so you are technically underweight but by only a smidgeon. You can easily correct that by adding stuff like nuts to your diet.

Nuts and cheese were a big part of my solution to stopping weight loss as well. I do two ounces of cheese and an ounce of nuts for lunch every day. It's only 3 ounces of food, so it doesn't make me over-full, but it's over 400 calories at once!

Not a single bit. I was at 109 last time I talked to him in November and he said I won't keep losing and will even regain. He wasn't concerned. I have lost a little more, but maybe he's right. I don't know. He does have much more experience with this than I do. It seems that the vast majority of people have a regain after a couple of years, so hopefully I'll gain a little eventually. The loss has definitely slowed down as I've been hanging out around the 105 - 106 mark for about a month. It's just frustrating because I know I look bad, but the comments from family and friends are hurtful even though they mean well and are simply worried.

I'm sure 105 is pretty rare in Alabama, but if you were on either coast no one would care.

You are going to bounce up a little at some point.

i would take other people suggestions here and add maybe a Protein shake and some healthy fats like nuts or avocado.

If it were so easily remedied then you would think I would have gained some weight by now. I eat nuts all the time. Roasted, salted pecans handful after handful, roasted almonds, granola with nuts, P3 with nuts, cheese, and turkey. I can put away an entire can of the Planter's Nut·ritious within 24 hours. That stuff is like crack ????

It's definitely not my lack of eating. It will sort itself out, I'm sure. Then one day I'll be whining about needing a revision ????

That's quite a dick comment. "Rare in Alabama" I've been on both coasts. There's all body types everywhere. And yeah, I was still pretty damn skinny in New York during Thanksgiving.

I live in the midwest there aren't a lot of really thin people, it doesn't take a lot to be consider thin.

Alabama is the 2nd fattest state in the country, only surpassed by Mississippi. Those are facts not my opinion.

We are so used to people being over weight that people forget what thin/healthy looks likes.

This sounds stressful. I'm not sure if this is the same for sleeve but I've known many bypass patients who were under weight for a couple of years but they dos eventually gain weight (sometimes quickly). I hope that you can get to a weight you are comfortable with!

What a dick comment. The second time you went there.

Ever been to Alabama? Or Mississippi?

Do you seriously think healthy-weight and slim people are anomalies in the Deep South?

Seriously?!

If so, you are flat-out wrong.

I have been to every state in the Union and several countries in the world.

What I said is only offensive if you want it to be, and that certainly wasn't my intention.

Are we really going to pretend that obesity and diabetes are not epidemics in those areas? And deny actual facts just to get huffy?

Almost 70% of Americans are overweight. It's to the point it doesn't matter where you live. If you aren't overweight you are in the vast minority.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
