Cold sores? I never really had a problem with colds sore before surgery. Now I seem to get them more often. I'm I leaking a Vitamin? Any suggestions?

If you mean "cold sores" on your lip, I've only heard the term as a euphemism for a type of herpes. I don't have it, so I'll just give you the common knowledge. You may have picked up the virus at any time, I think, and it waited until now to surprise you. Ask your regular doctor if there is a test to confirm the herpes virus. If it is, just don't kiss anyone or share forks, etc., while you have the boo-boo or feel one coming on, i.e., a sensation of something in the brewing stage. Doing so is a good way to lose friends and lovers. If herpes is confirmed, ask what you need to know so that you don't infect others for their lifetimes.

Are you saying that you're leaking Vitamins or asking if you are? I don't know what it means to leak Vitamins.< /p>

A cold sore is caused by a virus. Once you get one it tends to reoccur. You can get a cold sore ointment at a drugstore.

Definitely talk to your doctor if you are concerned.

Cold sores are caused by HSV-1, which is yes, Herpes 1, but it's the kind you get on your face, not your other regions and it's super common. It is something that you could have picked up as a kid if you drank from a glass of someone with a cold sore and you may experience breakouts more frequently if you are stressed. It can remain latent for years and then pop up randomly. I had to sign a waiver the first time I had a certain kind of facial because apparently the treatment for a facial can spark an outbreak in someone who has the virus. I have a friend who has HSV-1 all over his forehead from being a wrestler. When he is most stressed or not eating enough or very well he tends to get a breakout. He will go for years with none and then bam, have 2-3 breakouts in a few months. The same tends to be true for cold sores on your lip. As soon as you feel it starting, they make a medication that greatly lowers the chance of it becoming a full breakout and they also make OTC drugs that you can use to shorten how long it lasts and lessen the severity. Like the other person said, it is highly contagious when it is at the first breakout stage, so don't make out with anyone or share your drinks, lol.

Pop some OTC medication on there and it should dry up quickly. :)

Or, you may just be lacking in Vitamins...

If I get run down or neglect my diet, I will develop something similar to 'cold sores'...

They come up in a lump on my lip, in particular in the corners of my mouth...

They're like a cross between a cold sore, an ingrown hair and a mouth ulcer..

Painful stuff!!!

I've had them checked out and they are not viral at all...

They're simply a physical manifestation of poor diet and/or lack of taking care of myself...

Before you decide that you've picked up the virus, go and see your GP..

He's probably slightly more qualified than a lot of people...

I used to get cold sores relatively frequently as a teenage and young man. Mine were almost always related to the level of stress I was under at the time. But the older I get I have noticed a direct relationship between fucks-given and number of cold sores.

So if you are currently stressed (which would be understandable), it could be the cause as well.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
