AnA92212 577 Posted January 26, 2016 I have PCOS too. Had my baby 6 weeks before I was sleeved. I went on Ortho Tri Clyclen. I hadn't been on birth control since I was 23. (Now 38). I was scared of the mirena. I want another baby and had heard too many horror stories. I also wanted something to balance out my hormones. The reason it took me so long to get pregnant was due to way too much estrogen. I also wanted a cycle every month to help reduce my risk of cancer. I will be on birth control until the end of the year when it is safe to start trying. I've been on it for about 7 months now and so complaints. I love being regular and I already have to take pills every day (vitamins) so it is easy to remember.
naturegirl 320 Posted January 27, 2016 Mirena! I've had it for almost 5 years and love it. Works great, this coming from someone who get pregnant on the pill twice.
dede0314 356 Posted January 27, 2016 I'm getting the Mirena put in this Friday. I'm a little nervous about it. But we'll see how it goes.
shrinkingkimber 200 Posted January 27, 2016 (edited) I'm getting the Mirena put in this Friday. I'm a little nervous about it. But we'll see how it goes.I had my mirena inserted in October. The insertion process is a little uncomfortable but after it's in it's easy to forget about it. I have only had one period since and it was super light. I recommend taking some pain medicine right before you go. I was a little crampy that day but otherwise it was good. I never delivered vaginally (had 2 c-sections) so I heard it can be a little more uncomfortable but like I said it wasn't too bad! naturegirl 320 Posted January 28, 2016 The insertion isn't pleasant but well worth it! My doctor adds a numbing cream for the process. Some cramping may be present but will go away. Being period free has been amazing!
Soon2BHealthyAggie 23 Posted January 28, 2016 If you haven't had children yet, you may want to consider Skyla. It's a smaller hormone based IUD. It was made for woman who have not had children since their cervix is not as "open" as those who have had children. As for me, I love my depo. I'm not a fan of pain and the thought of trying to cram something into my cervix freaks me out!
