Have a bathroom question

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery last Wednesday so it's been 4 days. I am finally getting more liquids in, which is good. The other day was the first tim I went #2, but it was like I passed gas and it was like an explosion sorry tmi., but I need to ask if anyone else has experienced the same thing. I have only had Clear Liquids now since last Tuesday so I would think it would be solid, but if feels like every time go to the bathroom and I pass gas it happens. It's brown and yellow . it's not really diarrhea. As anyone else experience this??

I was like that for nine days. Had to take me off of Protein Shakes to firm me up.

Yes, ???? me too. Mine woke me up at 2am. I don't look for mine to change until I start stage 2.

I didn't have a bowel movement the entire first week, so I consider you fortunate that you were able to pass anything.

I had the same experience. I even asked my doctor about it at my first follow up appointment. It is normal. The first few days you have to be careful. Sometimes you think it's just gas so you gamble and lose lol. Started to firm up on Stage 2 but still going a day or two before the next bowel movement. When I do go it seems to be a trilogy or mini series so I suggest getting soft tissue and flushable wipes.

I had the exact opposite effect.

I couldn't pass anything without extreme pain and tearing without taking 6 Colace and Fiber gummies twice a day.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
