WorkinOnMe 596 Posted January 18, 2016 Came down with the bug yesterday & haven't been able to eat anything since lunch. Have had a bit to drink ... small sips now and then, but nothing near what I should be taking in. Tried a few bites of applesauce, but it didn't stay down long and stomach has been gurgling ever since. How do you all deal with something like this without worrying about Protein & Fluid intake?? Just let it run its course???
bikrchk 1,313 Posted January 18, 2016 There will be occasions you get "stomach flu" type stuff and can't keep anything down for a few days. Like right after surgery when you weren't feeling like eating or drinking... 1. Do your best to stay hydrated. Add an electrolyte enhanced beverage. 2. Try to get some nutrition in you, most likely in the form of a Protein shake in my case when I'm sick. Do it even if you don't "feel" like it. Head to the doc if you can't keep Water down. You no longer have the luxury to let hydration lapse for long as you'll go south faster now that your tummy is smaller and you're not getting as much in the first place. I've had stomach flu once in the 2 years since surgery. Lost 7 pounds in 3 days after entering maintenance. For me, it comes off fast when I'm sick now, (which is rare now that I'm much healthier)!
