Frustrated....

Recommended Posts

Before I launch into my tirade, I want to preface it by saying I am thrilled with my weightloss success so far, but...

I had my first fill 2 weeks ago. Over the first 3-4 days (liquids) I lost 6lbs. Then I weighed a few days later and I gained 4lbs back. I got upset and decided to wait to weigh for a whole week. I exercised like crazy everyday. I weighed this morning and I was only down a half a pound?????

I am so confused and frustrated because I worked so hard, ate the right things on the whole and drank tons of Water.< /p>

....And, I am hungrier than ever. Has anyone gained after a fill? Some words of encouragement would be great.

I am schedule for a checkup in a couple of weeks- think I am going to ask for another fill.

I go for my first fill in another two weeks. By any chance do you know how often you can go for a fill? Is it every week, month, etc?

Are you logging your caloric intake and weight somewhere? This will give you an excellent idea of where you stand. FitDay is good, and there are others. I find I cannot take in more than about 900 calories or the weight loss stops completely (I went through three weeks of that before I got SERIOUS about the logging). Now every minute of the day I know exactly where I am and exactly how much I can have the rest of the day. This is something they try to teach you at Weight Watchers, but I never listened and didn't do it. No wonder I didn't lose anything. I can tell by the graph when I have overstepped and messed up because the line goes flat on my weight. IT WORKS.

If your body is not used to working out you are definitely holding on to some Water. There's not really anything you can do about that, it's water your muscles need for repair. JUST KEEP DOING WHAT YOU'RE DOING, get your fills and try to keep your eyes on longer term goals...not week to week. I know that's easier said than done, but your frustration factor will be cut way back if you can manage it.

This is called bandster hell for a reason. The time between getting a band and getting to your sweet spot is hard. Hang in there, give it time. Get another fill, life will be good!

I have had a few weeks where I lost nothing and was disappointed, then the following week lost 4 pounds. It's a process that you just have to give it your all and it will pay off in time. Just remember you didn't gain it overnight and it is not going to come off that quick. You will definately see results long term doing what you are doing. Just be patient...hard for me to even say, because this is one of my bad weeks. Keep up the good work!!!

Well, here's an update.... went on my cruise(loved it)... exercised 7 out of the 9 days I was gone for around 45 minutes...came home and weighed (NO LOSS). I suppose I should be glad that I didn't gain while on a cruise. Since I have been home, I have gone back to my regular healthy eating and I am continuing to exercise and WAHLA...I am down 4 lbs!!!!!!!!!! Yeah!!!!!! I am done a total of 37lbs and a whopping 50 inches!!!!!!!

I go back to the doctor on Friday. I still think I may ask for a small fill, because I can eat a lot of food and I am hungry in between meals. I guess we will see what happens, but I know I am on the right track.

Thanks for everyones suggestions.

I join you in frustration, I was becoming obsessed with my scale and getting so mad.. so I threw it away beginning of July. It ended up working out for me.. And maybe since you are working out, you're gaining muscle which weighs more than fat. Maybe you're losing inches, just not pounds?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
