Has anyone ever cheated just a little in first few weeks after getting sleeved? I mean we all arent perfect and make mistakes.. i did cheat 1 time and oh boy did i pay for it..i ate a really thin slice of red velvet cake. I felt terrible, will cheating once stretch my new stomach...i had to get a hiatal hernia removed also

When I went for my first follow-up post-op visit and nutrition class there were seven of us in the class who had our sleeves either the same day or the day after. Those of us who were following the program exactly as written were feeling great. The four people who "cheated" a little and ate off plan were miserable and having a tougher time. I know it's anecdotal but it made an impression on me.

There is a reason we have a very strict post-op plan. It was developed based on research and the experiences of people who have gone through the process before us. It is for our benefit. If you remember that it might make it a bit easier to stay the course and follow your plan.

I am in the same boat...sleeved 12/14 and have been stuck for a couple weeks...even went up a few pounds (possibly rebound effect from Water pill being d/c'd)...I always get my Protein, but often down on the water...gotta keep plugging away at that goal...

We will all get through this im really hoping it merely is just a stall for us all.

Hello

My surgery is Feb 1, so not long now. I'm in my pre op diet.

I'm IN full ketosis. I have my Ketostix at home to test my urine to be sure that I am in ketosis. I am hungry, of course no energy, drinking tons of Water, and trying to figure out why there are so many varying opinions on coffee intake, because I need to get tings done every single day until I am in surgery.

NOW.

About Stalling:

I have been a yo yo dieter my entire life, I am 46 years old. I have noticed that every-time I went back on a lo-carb diet, I would lose maybe 5 pounds and stop. I HAVE to lose enough weight to make exercise a reality. I can not even FIT in the "regular" gym equipment, or walk long w/o my knees grinding out. So it is a necessity that I lose enough via this drastic measure, to give me the edge I need to move MORE.

Is there a phenomenon whereby if you have been a yo yo dieter on lo-carb diets, that they just stop working out for you?

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
