Frustrated with People

Recommended Posts

This post just reminded me of how dysfunctional that military hierarchy can be, especially with civilians who don't sign up for that kind of environment.

Some of the worst stories I have heard are from daughters who struggle with weight and have had fathers who are in the military. It may be normal to treat people badly in the military but it doesn't make it healthy or right.

I never said I condone it, hell I was heavy, not fat but near my max weight in the Army. It was hell. I lost a lot of weight by starving myself. However a combat soldier looks at things through very different lenses. Given that so many of our vets served multiple combat tours, I imagine it is far worse today than when I was in back in Desert Storm.

I guess the distinction I am trying, and apparently failing to make, is that combat soldiers see things from a very different perspective.

As for your boss, he might just be an asshole. In fact there are a myriad of reasons for his behavior, I just heard the military aspect and decided to toss in my two cents.

I do hope and pray your situation get's better. I think we all know how hard discrimination due to weight can be.

But isn't it so ironic that the boss who treats overweight people horribly, is the one who keeps bringing in food for everyone? Is he trying to increase how many people he treats badly? lol

Excellent point!

Boss? Sounds like a pain, it happens and I've dealt with same. A couple of people at work, my Mom. They don't offer me anything or if they do it's a very small portion compared to everyone else. Makes me more self-conscious about my weight. I might not "need it" but that's my cross to bear. Hurts my feelings too, so I'm sorry you have to deal with insensitive a******. Truth be told, great big stomach, overweight people should get the biggest portion.

I'm sure, everybody here knows, fat folks are always safe targets for discrimination. Sucks. For all the love and kindness people bestow, there are always some that spread sorrow.

NUT? That is surprising from a professional. Mine was a skinny little man, but he was nice/understanding. Maybe he's afraid if he is crappy to big girls/guys, we'll eat him

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
