hi all i just receive call from my dr at the wish center telling me that my lapband surgery will be on 1/4/5 and i only have to be on liquids diet for ony 24 h befor surgery .yahoooooo ( but) why is that ......why only one day and why everybody telling me about tow weeks is my dc is wrong thanks

Every doc is different. Some require a certain amount of weight loss BEFORE - both so that the area he'll be working will be a bit smaller and less fatty to get around in OR to see how determined you are to lose weight.

Many will tell you that your liver is harder to handle and more easily nicked in the surgery if it is what is called 'fatty liver'. So, they ask you to lose some weight before to lessen the chances of this happening. It might be worth making some changes on your own just to insure the most optimal conditions once your under the knife. It is your life and your health after all. I didn't have to do any preband diet and was able to eat till 9 pm. the night before surgery. My surgery went fine. I think it is just up to the individual doctors. Teresa

Samy - I only had to do liquids the day before surgery with nothing to eat or drink after midnight. Every doctor has their own set of rules. Good luck!

Congratulations, Samy! So your New Year really will be a new beginning for you! That's wonderful! My dr. had me eat "low glycemic" foods, no diets, and was very easy to follow.
