new_bella 6 Posted January 14, 2016 Hello all, I'm growing quite frustrated with my sleeve and slow weight loss! I see so many ppl who lost weight rapidly and I'm losing 0-2 lbs a week. I'm six weeks out and only down 20lbs. 15 of those lbs were in the first two or three weeks! I've consulted with my dietician who thinks I'm doing great but I'm really sad. I track all my food and activity on MyFitness Pal. Cabs are low, sugar intake is low, all food is weighed, and I meet my Protein goal everyday! What the hell is going on????? I'm so scared of going through this whole process for nothing! I also have PCOS but I've seen success with other PCOS sufferers. I had more success when I used Phentermine....smh. Any suggestions anyone can offer? Did this happen to anyone else? Help!
Inner Surfer Girl 12,015 Posted January 15, 2016 Sounds like you are right on track. None of us lose at a constant or steady rate. We all experience stalls. They are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process. Most of us experience a stall at about three weeks after surgery. Just follow your program. Make sure you are getting in all of your Protein and fluids. Take your Vitamins and supplements as instructed. Exercise. And, stay off the scale. Embrace the Stall! http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall
Fat2Phat2016 541 Posted January 15, 2016 It does sound like you are doing well. What about exercise? Also have you measured to see if you are losing inches?
Babbs 14,681 Posted January 15, 2016 First off, you didn't have success with phentermine. You gained the weight back, didn't you? Second, 20 pounds in 6 weeks is a perfectly acceptable number. I don't know what your stats are, but I'd be willing to bet you're a lower BMI. That always makes a difference in the rate we lose weight. Age and gender a are also good indicators of rate of loss. What's your hurry? Will you turn into a pumpkin or something if you don't get to goal by a certain date? It took me a year to lose 85 pounds, and an additional 5 months to lose 10 more. How long it took me doesn't matter one bit. The fact that I got there and am maintaining it does. Just keep working your program, learn as much as you can about excersise and nutrition to be the healthiest you can be, and don't fret about how fast you're losing. It's negative thinking and counterproductive to you goals.
MsQuita83 3 Posted January 15, 2016 I'm in the same boat with the slow weight loss but I do see a difference. I try to remind myself that you lose inches that the scale don't pick up. Your hard work will pay off
OKCPirate 5,323 Posted January 15, 2016 Enjoy the slow and steady loss...less skin issues. Look at @@Babbs pictures (heck blow them up on your computer screen). You will notice little noticeable lose skin. Now look carefully at this pic... Notice my thighs? I'm testing out at 19% body fat. Those "chubby" thighs are just excess skin that I will have to pay thousands of dollars to get removed. So better slow loss, lots of Water, Protein, stay out of hot Water and tanning beds and your skin will love you.
meatpie 25 Posted January 15, 2016 I am slow too, week 12 and down 28 pounds.. Much slower than other people but I KNOW there is no way I could have lost that weight otherwise-(I tried!).. So .. I am happy with my slow and steady loss. 1-2pounds a week is ok with me, I haven't lost any hair yet and my skin will hopefully bounce back better. Don't compare yourself, take a deep breath and just have confidence in yourself and your program to succeed.
jintycb 721 Posted January 15, 2016 Yep, I'm one one of this tribe-slow but (hopefully) sure. I've hit a stall at 12 weeks out and have lost 30 in total. I use FP and track everything and I have been following all the rules that I should. I'm exercising by doing lots of dog walking and between that and household chores yesterday clocked up nearly 7 miles. I'm staying off the scales for a bit and enjoying wearing jeans that four weeks ago I couldn't get into. I'm also reminding myself that I didn't put all my excess weight on over three months so I sure as hell ain't going to lose it that quickly.
new_bella 6 Posted January 15, 2016 Thanks for all responses! I am grateful for my loss thus far. I guess I just had different expectations. Especially since I'm getting married this April! I had hopes of miraculous weight loss so I'd feel more comfortable in all the wedding pics????. But I'm probably obsessing too much. I'm cleared to do strenuous workouts after today so I'm gonna bust my ass in the gym and continue my eating plan. Hopefully I'll begin to see more results soon. hockeyfan7 249 Posted January 15, 2016 Slow and steady wins the race. I've had really slow weight loss but with this tool I'm not slipping back into my old habits of giving up. You can do it too. Just hang in there and you will get to where you want to be. Don't give up!

new_bella 6 Posted February 24, 2016 I avg about 2 to 2.5lbs a week. Some weeks less. I found out last week from my Endo that my slow weight loss is due to my jacked up metabolism thanks to PCOS and Hashimoto's (thyroid condition). I know I wouldn't have had this progress alone but some days I can't help but get frustrated because my expectations were sooooooo different! I thought this was it for sure! That the weight would melt off...lol. But this is my journey and I have to try to Celebrate the small victories as they come.
Jenkins 26 Posted March 12, 2016 I'm frustrated too with slow weight loss but I'm so worried it's because I am going something wrong rather than because 'everyone is different'. I don't have a proper meal plan or ongoing support. I was sleeved abroad and I am struggling to find a NUT who has bariatric experience! Of course I've garnered information from all over the web and I think I'm on track but its hard second guessing yourself. When I read the endless comments about stalls and slow lose I just think everyone is afraid that this isn't going to work for them! rearea89 0 Posted March 13, 2016 I have only lost 40 lbs in 5 months but I had a lower bmi so my dr is not worried too much about it. I do get disappointed sometimes but then I remember that if I lose 30 -40 more lbs, I will be at goal. My body just hangs on to those pounds and doesn't want to give them up.
