Trader Joe's frozen riced cauliflower

Recommended Posts

I am obsessed with this! It is so good. I have made it many different ways, but in less than ten minutes I can turn it into the most amazing macaroni and cheese-like concoction that tastes decadent but is actually not. If anyone else has suggestions about how to use this, I would love to hear them. I am considering a version with some sort of Protein in it.

I haven't tried it yet, but a friend recommended using it to make a faux Pizza Crust.< /p>

I've seen pintrest posts using it to make "grilled cheese". It looks unbelievably yummy. I am heading to Trader Joe's this weekend!

Ha! That's awesome to hear. I actually was just telling my boyfriend that we need to go and buy this to save time. I'm a rice lover, so I'll certainly get use out of this. When I get home from work, I don't feel like pulling out all the equipment just to make cauliflower rice or a cauliflower pizza crust (which is equally delicious), so this is number one on my shopping list once we can start eating normally again.

If you can find it in stores it is awesome. It sells out though, the day it delivers.

I have made riced cauliflower in the food processor, but it is such a pain to clean the processor, this is the better solution.

That's too funny. I just replied to someone and mentioned this and now I read your post. Yes, it's delicious, and very inexpensive.

I used to use it for chop suey, next up is mini stuffed baby peppers. Really, you can substitute it anywhere you'd use rice. I am planning on smaller quantities so I can keep Protein my main intake.

I drove 70 miles to purchase it from Trader Joes and they had a waiting list. They had been sold out every time it comes in.

They were sold out Saturday when I went too. It's a solid hour from my house, but not as bad as you! They told me it would be in tomorrow. I wonder if you can order quantities ahead like you can at the grocery store.....

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
