Hi there,

I'm sure this question has been asked a million times, but some of the threads are a few years old.

I just had my sleeve done on Saturday, and next Thursday I start my Vitamins. My coordinator and the surgeon suggested I purchase Usana. I know they definitely get a sort of kick back from the company, which I'm not totally against, I just want to see if there's equivalent alternatives out there that I could get for cheaper. Of course I realize that the Vitamins are definitely important and I don't want to skimp out just to save money.

1. From Usana they suggest:

Essentials - 3 times a day

Biomega - 2 times a day

2. They also have underneath this recommendation that I could purchase as an alternative:

Biotin chewable - 2 per day

Mega Red - 1 per day.

(when I google the two options though I don't really see how they would be substituted for one another.)

Any suggestions or recommendations??

Thanks so much in advance.

Other than the Biotin and the multi I'm not sure what's in the others. My Vitamins and supplements were based on my bloodwork. I was told what I needed and what strength and purchased them myself at CVS & Target.

Congratulations on your surgery. I must say trying out Vitamins was the most challenging part of this journey. Some were disgusting and I could not tolerate them (Celebrate chewables and capsules). I have a bunch that I would love to give away to whomever would like to try.
Finally I followed

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
