Pedro Valle-Inclan 275 Posted February 3, 2016 My experience with tough stuff like this is, I just DO IT.... Now of course I probably wouldn't be in the position where I need this surgery if I had always been able to just DO IT..... But this is a new road, a new life/world for us, now we really do HAVE to do it. And we will

RNYDawn 160 Posted February 3, 2016 I started my pre-op diet today - surgery is on the 17th. My surgeon's office uses Bariatric Advantage. I can have 3 shakes, 2 bars, up to 24 oz of broth, up to 3 sugar free jellos or popsicles, and one banana a day. Plus a ton of Water of course. I tried adding coffee extract to my chocolate shake. Mistake. The extract just made it taste like dirt. I choked it down. I tried adding sweet drops root beer (stevia) to my vanilla shake. Mistake. I added too much and I'm gagging because it's just too sweet. The good news is that the chocolate Peanut Butter Bariatric Advantage bars are not bad. I believe I will be blending the strawberry shake as-is to avoid above mistakes. My delicious find in all of this is Crystal Light Cherry Lime drops - soooo good in Water and crushed ice...almost like a sonic slushie All of this comes out to just over 1000 calories per day. Lord give me strength!
Paula'sVSGLife 49 Posted February 4, 2016 I am lucky I think! My surgery is 29th February and 2 weeks before, I do Protein Shake for Breakfast (which I do anyway) and then two small healthy meals. Only the last 4 days before surgery do I have to do a total liquid diet. Phew!

SHOTzY* 114 Posted February 4, 2016 You can do it!! ????. It is hard, but the time will fly by with each day of limited eating. I'm almost done with my pre op diet, and I have gotten to the point of not really caring about meals or "oh my gosh, I need to eat!!" I think it helps to know that at the end of this short diet, you get the PRIZE-so to speak-of a second chance to be a better and more healthy person ????. I see the surgery team tomorrow. I do the clear liquid and citrate of magnesium laxative on Sunday. I don't think it's sunk in yet. I think I'll get nervous the day I have to go to the hospital ????. SHOTzY* 114 Posted February 4, 2016 Monday surgery for me! Also in Illinois :-) So very happy for you!! I hope you wake up from surgery and your mind is at peace knowing that it has become a reality!! Are you from upstate?? Nice to know another Land of Lincoln resident is also having a life changing transformation. Kind of takes your mind of the BUDGET FIASCO . Ha ha ha!!!! I'm not scared or nervous-yet. It will happen at check in I think. I will look around me and then likely get emotional. I know one thing for sure: I will meet you and all these wonderful supportive people right back here after I'm -WE-are post op!!! :-)
citygirl1962 50 Posted February 5, 2016 Here is the Feb 2016 bypass SECRET FB group: Turns out someone already created one. Here are the instructions: We are starting a closed/secret group on Facebook and would LOVE to have you join us. 2 years ago I had a sleeve done, but due to complications they are revising me from sleeve to bypass. I had an AMAZING group on Facebook that all had the same surgery that month. We were going through the same things whether it was venting one day, sharing milestones, and made lasting friendships! Since it's a secret group there is some hoops to go through to get added (sorry, Facebook makes it harder) The good thing is that it's completely secret meaning none of your friends can know see posts or ever know you're in it This makes it a safe place for us because I know for some it's not something they want to share. Here's how to join: 1. Go to https://www.facebook.com/lanaepetersen and send me a friend request 2. I will accept the friend request, then send you an invite to the group. 3. After you are added to the group I'll unfriend

cindilew 1 Posted February 5, 2016 My surgery date is February 9 if the weather cooperates. Snow had me cancel two of the 3 doctor appointments I was to have this week. Made it to one today, Upper GI on Monday and the other test was just cancelled. Starting to get nervous.
