Hi. I'm almost a week post-op and still feel pretty lousy. The pain has decreased but still there. I am getting all my meds, fluids, and Vitamins in. I am struggling to get the Protein in but the doctor told me to make hydration my first priority. I just want to feel better and jump back in to life. Just trying to wipe up the kitchen counters was too much for me pain wise. I miss feeling normal.

It does take a little time to get over the surgery. It took me about 6 months to reach my happy state when all the problems were resolved.

I was also in lots of pain until just a few weeks ago! (I am 3 weeks post op).

Remember, EVERY single day gets better. Every single one.

Hang in there! I am a week post-op also. Just take one day at a time and it will improve a little every day.

I'm six months post op, and while I have no pain, I do have a constant tiredness still that will hopefully resolve sometime in the next month. Your body doesn't mind taking it's sweet time. It gets better from here. :)

Stick to the diet and plan set forth by your doctor and nutritionist. Everyone heals at different rates but you're body will tell you what it's ready to do, and when. Keeping hydrated is great and get as much Protein in as you can to aid in the healing process.

I had my surgery Dec. 8th and a week out I felt lousy and wondered if I had made a mistake but then I turned the corner in week 2 and things have gone really well since then. So happy I made this decision.

Being a guy, we never think anything is going to hurt until it happens and then we are going, "I didn't know this would hurt". My first week was pretty miserable but I walked and kept increasing my walking. By the second week I felt a lot better and completely better by the third.

Trust me...first month is rough with the pain, fatigue, sleepiness and only drinking liquids. With that, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Everyday really TRULY is better than the last.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
