Lap band April 2015

Recommended Posts

Hello all, just wanted to introduce myself. I was banded last year and lost 17 pounds so far. It would be nice meeting people going through this as it's quite a lonely journey. Get in touch, love to here from you.

Welcome!

I hope you have wonderful results as many of us had. Please try to not put too much value on the scary stories some post here.

There are many success stories to be had and you will find them. The sleeve has the most recent people posting... It seems to be a current favorite and works well for the first few years I gather.

Banders can help you, as I agree it feels like you are on this Quest alone

We are here...

Personally, I love my band. Since 2006... Maintaining a 75 lb weight loss for all these years. Know that I still work on my Water, Protein, and exercise.

There is a saying" they operated on your stomach, not your head" and that topic comes up a lot!

Best of luck.

Thanks for getting in touch with me, it's nice to be able to talk to someone in the same. Position. I have been frustrated and your right it's not the brain they operate on. What do you eat in a typical day ?i have a 10 ml band and currently has 7.5 in it after a fill today x

For me, what has worked long term is to have a Protein Bar or Protein Drink daily to up my Protein. I eat a lot of chicken thighs... Cooked in liquid to keep moist. Also chicken salad works for me Usually with a small salad or vege on the side.

Some people like quinoa, Beans with rice, edamamesJerky, nuts or yogurt. Extra protein milk helps too...all really fairly high in protein. Also eggs and cottage cheese can be good options

It seems like you have to experiment to find what works to keep your protein high.

Water is what I have to work on daily. I attempt to not sit without a tall container... I'm mostly successful, but I need to remind myself a lot!

Best of luck. It is kinda trial and error with what food agrees with you.

Thank you, there are some good ideas there !! The chicken thighs sound good as I struggle with chicken sometimes. It is very much a slow process and getting used to it mentally as well as physically takes some getting used to but getting there slowly but surely lol :-) x

Hello I was banded April 4 2015. Down 28 pounds. I'm getting closer to the max fills that my band can take and Ito has been a struggle. The highest weight loss I had was when the fill was too much and I was missable for 3 days and unable to eat or drink. They remove that fill and I kept what I lost for a month. Later in I got a tiny fill it was good for a few days but lately I feel it tighter and can't experiment with anything as I get stuck constantly On Monday I'm getting littl Fluid out Night time are the worst if I eat at night then I can't sleep as I get up to vomit or saliva coming out for my nose ( sorry about the tmi) but I need to speak with someone that can understand me. I don't feel I'm eating healthy. When I was heavier I think I ate better. Please help

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
