Steak, I love you, you been good to me, I'm gonna miss you!!!

I have my surgery next week on the 31st. I'm excited, nervous, scared and everything in between. I've been noticing that I've begun to talk to my food. I go to eat a sanwich and I tell it I love it, I'll miss it and then I tell it goodbye. I'm crazy! I never knew how much food ruled my life.

I can't wait to be able to control my hunger and feel full for once! :clap2:

Tomorrow, I'm going to have my last steak dinner at my favorite restaurant, Ruth's Chris Steakhouse. I'm going to tell my filet that I love it and then tell it goodbye!

I've been banded 4 months and I eat steak regularly....it's such a darn tootin' shame that I have to eat filets though.

Oh, that does give me hope. I don't mind giving up the loaded baked potato that goes so well with the steak, or the onion rings but oh I hope my band will allow me to get Protein through steak. (eyes, fingers, toes, mind crossed!)

Ruths Chris, yum! Enjoy it, honey...just in case.

Girl, I am to be banded Aug. 17th, and I am so with you.... I love all foods...Any my problem has always been portion size. I eat healthy, very healthy I cant just have a chicken leg, or a small steak....Get the picture? I would pick steak and lobster over any dessert!! But, with the band, I want to have only a chicken leg or a palm size piece of steak..

I know I will eat properly, just half the portions.... I am a little sad too, saying bye to all my food friends, especially my FRESH BREAD!!!!

But I know that once the pounds start going down on the scale, I will be jumping up and down with glee!!!

The other night we went to a nice steakhouse with another couple. The other girl and I split an 8 oz. filet. I had maybe 3 oz, 2 TBSP of potatoes au gratin and one asparagus spear w/ a bit of crabmeat. I was perfectly content. :) Oh, and I was the last one to finish my meal by another 10 minutes!

Terri, I am being banded in two days. I love to think that after I am banded I can still go to a restaurant and eat what you have just mentioned, it is exactly how I would like my band to work, you seem to have it just right.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
