JustWatchMe 7,117 Posted January 13, 2016 A friend gave me a set of tiny containers for Christmas. They are one cup or less, and have screw on lids. I love them! I portion out what I plan to take to work the next day and also use them for leftovers. Learning to cook in smaller batches has been a big challenge for me post WLS. Now my kids are away at college, I'm divorcing, and I cook only for myself. Making small portions is a very new skill for me. And my food lasts so long now! pink dahlia 2,513 Posted January 14, 2016 I know , I waste some too. I dont know if you're cooking for 1, 2 or more but im cooking just for my hubby and myself. One way that helps is cooking a regular dinner, then packing up the leftovers into the next days lunches. If theres still leftover food, I put it in a tupperware and using blue painters tape and a magic marker, I write the name and date on it. ( Italian chicken, 1-13-16 etc ). Then it goes in a special bin in the fridge marked "Leftovers". It's not a perfect system, but it helps alot !
needtorecover 574 Posted January 14, 2016 Cooking in smaller batches is a skill I'll have to learn. I already always make way too much of anything. My spouse and I are terrible about eating leftovers so I oftentimes package up the food and bring it to work for a colleague who hates to cook but loves home-cooked food. I love cooking, and I'm really good at it - but I get sick of eating the same thing several days in a row. I made an enormous lasagna yesterday. I'm going to pack it up well and freeze half of it for another dinner later on. Freezer food = A+. Food that's been sitting in my fridge for a week because I won't eat it = fail.
