Approved! Washington State Apple Health (Molina Medicaid)

Recommended Posts

I was approved today to begin Stage 2 of Molina's bariatric program. I am a 5'5", 309 pound 35 year old female. My BMI is 50. I have one co-morbidity of high blood pressure, and a doctor who believes that WLS is medically necessary.

I also have fibromyalgia, but I do not believe they take that into consideration when it comes to medicaid.

My doctor referred me to the required orientation for Dec. 16th, 2015. I was approved today, January 11th, 2016.

I have to complete these requirements by July 4th, 2016

12 dietician visits

12 physical therapy visits

bariatric psych eval ( or my last years records from my counselor)

EKG

I live in Clarkston, WA. My PCP Tamara Bruns (Nurse) got me into the program. I will be having surgery at Rockwood Surgical Group in Spokane, WA.

Yay I have Molina wa as well, this month I will be done with 6 months of visits. My surgeon also had me do a endoscopy, upper GI, and a sleep study as well. I'm getting excited to finish up. After the 18th I will make my appointment with surgeon again to hopefully make the date!

I found out something interesting. Molina isnt allowed to tell you that its just completing the 12 visits of each *within* 6 months....not having to wait the six months while completing it.

My doctor says I can be fast tracked to surgery if I have all surgeon tests done, and complete 6 visits of each (nut/PT/counselor). I could have surgery done in 3 months if all things fall into place.

Hi I am new here. I am waiting on medicaid to approve me. It's been almost a month. Any idea how long it takes?

My doctor sent in the papers to medicaid in November 2015, then i went to my required information meeting in December 2015. I got an answer back on January 9th, 2016. So approximately 2 to 2.5 months.

What insurance do you have? I have been waiting for almost 2 months and still no approval.

Apples Medicaid, when I went in for my appointment my doctor did the blood tests and had me schedule the seminar while at the appointment. His insurance biller knows how to ride the insurance companies for quick replies

I also wrote a personal letter to Molina as to why I need the surgery, I listed all 12 diets that I have been on over the last 5 years, all my weight related issues, and my supports. The goal was to make Molina understand how motivated I am and how much I need the surgery, now we have to wait for the approval to take the next step

Did you know that you cannot do anything until you get approved for stage 2? It wont count if you do.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
