i am the 27th! have my NUT class and final appt with the surgeon on wednesday the 20th. that is also the day i start my liquid pre op diet.

i am not nervous about being put to sleep or the surgery really but i am getting myself worked up about having my drain removed. that just doesnt sound fun at all. luckily i will have it removed the morning after surgery then i can go home! whoo hoo for outpatient. i am also a little nervous about 30 days of having to give myself blood thinner injections. :( i hear they are tiny little needles though so I'm sure i will get used to it after a day or so. anything you all are especially nervous about?

My dr. doesn't do drains - luckily you don't have to go home with it.

I'm just worried about lifting my 15 month old baby girl post-op. She loves for me to pick her up and I can't imagine her face when I tell her I can't. Luckily my husband will be off so he can out her in my arms but still...that's pretty much it.

Aww. I feel the same way about my 18 month old little girl. I'm going to have her climb up on the couch to sit with me since she loves climbing anyways.

My surgery is on the 28th!

Hi! Congratulations you're almost there! :) Could you keep me posted and let me know how that goes? My little one loves climbing too! I read somewhere that we should do a lot of things on the ground - like diaper changes, have little picnics instead of using the high chair, etc. I'll try but idk how easy it will be to get up from that low afterwards. Lol!

Anyways good luck!!!!! :)

I'm 52 and having my sleeve on the 26th too! I'm about 205 now and highest weight was 212 and I'm only 5'2. I'm so close to backing out. I'm so scared of afterward and not getting enough Protein and becoming protein deficient. I'm also very nervous about getting sick and throwing up and just general nausea some experience after surgery. Then I think about how out of breath I seem to be by just taking a shower.

I've only told my kids and husband about the surgery. I don't want to hear all the negative comments.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
