Hello, I am a 29 year old, weighing in at 257. I have two children, and a very active lifestyle. I met with my surgeon today, and went in knowing I wanted the lap band. He seemed to think I would not like it, and his receptionist tried to flat out talk me against it. They are both fans of the sleeve instead.

I have no health issues, I work an active job, work out three-four times a week, and eat as well as I can. I am discouraged that I cannot lose the weight on my own, and I am ready to stop focusing on my weight, and enjoy the beautiful things I have in front of me.

I would like advice from people who have the lapband, or people who have the sleeve. I hate thinking I know what I want only to be second guessed. This is a big decision for me, I do not have the finances to have multiple surgeries.

Help?!?

I would suggest you learn as much as you can about all the procedures and ask lots of questions until you are comfortable with your decision.

I was sleeved April 20 and couldn't be happier with my choice, my recovery and my results so far.

You will find people who have had varying results with each procedure. Ultimately, you need to go with what is right for you.

I do know that just based on numbers, the sleeve is gaining in popularity and the lap and is waning.

Surgeons are moving away from the lap band. They all seem to prefer to do the sleeve now. There are many people now moving from the band to the sleeve. I'm scheduled for the sleeve in Cleveland Clinic soon, I was told they never do the band anymore.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
