I am hoping someone else has used Dr. Marvin and would like to reply. I am looking for a doctor who accepts BCBS PPO and he is on the list.

TIA

HEY!!

Dr. Marvin was my surgeon. I had my surgery in Feb, 2007 of this year and I'm down 80lbs. If I was you I would chose Dr. Marvin he is so pleasant with his patient and he has great team that works with him.

Honestly??? My daughter had thyroid surgery with Dr. Marvin several years ago (when that was his speciality) and he was really good to deal with. He is strickly a surgeon, but did not offer any after care when her thyroid hormones were too low. He did refer her back to primary care physician, which I guess was appropriate.

One thing that was a negative. He obtained an assistant surgeon that was not in our network, and we had no idea until after surgery, when my insurance took the assistant's bills as out of network. His office was a bit disorganized and sent bills that we did not owe.

I realize that was thyroid surgery, but I would be concerned about his staff and follow up.

Check all that out.

As far as his surgeon skills, he was good.

Good luck with this decision. His staff and billing department may have improved since 4 years ago.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
