ausmith 374 Posted February 12, 2016 Hi All, I'm almost 4 yrs post op and I swing within about 3-8 pounds above my goal for the last 3.5 years. In the last 6-12 months, I feel like my legs and back side have gained a tremendous amount of weight and are getting "bulky" again with fat and cellulite, however, my weight is consistent. I also simultaneously am (late 40s) having hormone issues while I flirt with menopause so lots of changes going on. New back, shoulder, neck and foot problems are kicking in too, so making exercise more challenging. Has anyone had this situation where their weight gets redistributed or they become "chunky" while the number on the scale is roughly the same? I'm trying to figure out if this is what happens after one has had the sleeve for a while and the body gets used this new weight or if this is a hormone thing or maybe all of the above. I've always been pear shaped but after sleeve most of my bottom heaviness evened out with the top cuz I was so thin but not so much anymore. Lisa My Husband lost the weight very fast and got to goal within the first 7 months while it took me 12 months. We are about 2yrs 4 months out and at about 14 months in photo's and to look at him you would think he was to thin but when he sat down and through his shirts you could see love handles that had not been there when he first lost the weight and he still struggles with it even though he has gained no weight. He is 43, I've just turned 50 and have noticed in the last 3 months I'm much rounder in the tummy than I was but weight is within 5 pounds. VSGAnn2014 12,992 Posted February 12, 2016 Are you guys exercising and/or doing 10,000 steps/day?
windycitymom 60 Posted February 12, 2016 Are you guys exercising and/or doing 10,000 steps/day? Yes, I'm working out. Not as much as I'd like to but I'm working out (6-7 days/ week - pilates) and get in 10,000 steps (roughly 3-4 days/week) Definately, I am not at where I'd like to be at. I"ve had some major back issue impacting my legs and mobility so I'm not doing what I'd like to do but certainly working up to it debating if it even matters.... BestDayEver 418 Posted February 12, 2016 I lost a significant amount of weight 25 years ago when I was around 30 years old and my body looks different with this weight loss now that I'm post menopause. I definitely have less muscle mass and more loose skin. The weight is distributed differently. Perimenopause and menopause make a difference in your physical shape and muscle mass. Hormones - a blessing and a curse!
