I only have to do liquids the day before my surgery so I escape the 2 week liquid diet :) I have been doing 2 Protein Shakes a day for a few weeks already (mon-fri) and will probably just do it all 7 days those last 2 weeks.

Oh good for you! Do you have kids? Married? I have a 4,7 & 9 yr old. My hubby & I aren't sure if were going to tell them & if we do, how we are...thank God, that's my main concern @ this point & time.

I am married and have 2 kids - 6 and 9. We just told them last night because my 9 year old has been asking about why I am seeing so many doctors. He was starting to get nervous that there was something wrong with me - and I had planned on telling him anyway (although I would have rather waited until insurance approval went through first). I just told them that Mommy was going to a lot of doctors so that I can make sure I'm healthy enough for surgery. The surgery is going to help me lose weight and be healthier. We then explained that I will be sore for a little while, and that I will be eating differently for a while - but that the results will be worth it.

I do like that if we decide. Aren't you so excited about being so much more active w/them?

Also, I've been YouTube addicted w/hearing stories & seeing peoples progress. I think I'll def do a progression slideshow to contribute back but not sure of a vlog yet. My husband plans on having it shortly after so we have a lot going on.

My surgery is scheduled for March 16th AT UCLA. I've had my Psych evaluation, my blood work and an EKG done, plus a few classes at the hospital. Really excited about it! I've lost 13 pounds on my own so far with a 1200 calorie diet. It would be nice to have a FB page for March Sleevers :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
