State changing my plan at the last minute?

Recommended Posts

We have state ins that was covering everything. Just got a letter saying they are changing us from care to blue plus. Anyone know or guess if they will still cover surgery?

changing to blue plus

@@Wonderkind

(did you mean to say blue cross blue shield)

give them a call

they can give you the correct answer!!

if they tell you that you must fill forms out again

have tests too - oh well

new insurance "might" accept blood work that you have already done

maybe other tests too if they - ie EKG, psych exam etc etc

in other words you "might" not have to smart from ground zero

hopefully new insurance will cover WLS too

good luck

kathy

Sorry, I didn't explain that...blue plus is the state ins version or branch of bcbs. Thank you for your help!

update: I was able to make some phone calls today to find out what's going on... My county dropped UCARE for BLUEPLUS. Before that from Nov till Feb first we were in some kind of limbo without being told! I was going to have my surgery at Essentia Duluth with Dr Bettendorf. However they are out of network for Blueplus and I'll need to transfer to Abbott Northwestern in the Twin Cities (that's 6 hours south of me!) The good news is that it seems everythign will transfer and I'll only need to attend the seminar online, take the test and fill out the forms (already completed this today!) They will get my records and I'll need to meet with the surgeon and their NUT once and then he'll order any additional tests and submit for ins coverage then set a date! Sounds easy. So thankful for this answer to prayer!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
