900 calories at 4 months is fine. So ignoring is an okay option. Are you meeting your Protein and Water goals? If so, make sure you are physically hungry and not mentally hungry- I eat when bored. I eat when tired. I also confuse thirst for hunger. So start with an extra glass of water and if you are still hungry after a bit add a low cal snack like string cheese. You will eventually be increasing your calories as you continue to heal. Plus 900 vs 1000 calories for an active person still keeps you in a deficit to lose weight. If you find you stall for a significant period of time then reevaluate. I am 3 years out and can lose weight on 1100-1200 cals.

I've read that confusing our bodies with slight calorie changes (both less/more) can help with a stall maybe lose 100 calories a day for a couple days then go back up to 900 and see if it jump starts it, if not,you go up 100 calories for a couple days and so forth. Don't know if it will work for you but it has for me!! :)

What does your NUT advise? What is your Protein target?

Frankly, you may not be eating enough. My Protein target is 100 grams a day and 900 calories seems low as far out after surgery as you are.

Focus on following your program. Track your food and make healthy choices (I avoid starches for the most part).

Focus on getting in all of your protein and fluids every day. For me that means at least 100 grams of protein and 64 oz. of Fluid.

Take your Vitamins and supplements as directed.

And, exercise.

If you doing all of these things and aren't happy with your progress, why not give your NUT a call and make an appointment?

Embrace the Stall!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
