could not wait to post this

Recommended Posts

I have watched other people so excited about reaching onderland, and I could not wait. Never thought I was going to post this so soon. Here it is 199.2 lbs this AM, felt good and weird. I was sleeved 8/3, and was a slow loser at first, or at least that's how it felt to me. Then finally the weight loss picked up, although I still feel it could be better, but not complaining one little bit. I just had a total knee replacement 2 1/2 weeks ago, and my appetite is not good and I have alot of nausea from the pain meds. I am trying to cut back on meds, really would like my appetite back. I miss my workouts too right now with my trainer, but need to rehab this knee first. All in all I am excited and just hope this journey continues to take me to my goal, and I am very grateful for my sleeve.

Congratulations! I am new to this journey but not to leg injuries. I just wanted to say you can continue to work out with your trainer while rehabbing your knee. I was training 2x a week with a personal trainer when I ruptured my achilles tendon. After getting the cast off, I did my rehab stuff with the P/T and then worked out with the trainer doing core and upper body (arms, shoulders, etc). Instead of standing she had me do stuff while sitting on a low table.

@sbg224 So happy for you to hit this first big milestone! I can't wait to get there! Sorry about the knee surgery, and how it may have held you back on your exercise. I'm sure you will make up for it as soon as you are all healed up! I agree with Airstream88 that maybe your trainer could focus on upper body strength training for now.

Thanks guys, I see the surgeon the 18th, and I will find out then if I can go back to gym, at least for upper body. I also have to get cleared to drive

@@sbg224 I am so excited for you! I did it not too long ago. I remember seeing those numbers and being so very thrilled! I am very happy for you.

I have had an ACL reconstruction and a partial knee replacement. Both times in rehab the therapist had me on the stationary bike to work on range of motion. Do you do that? I know both times I actually lost weight and I think it was the bike that did it.

How is your knee by the way? Seems you are still having some pain. My aunt had one a few months ago and on day four, she answered her door with no crutches. She hadn't been on them except for one or two days, if that. Shocked me? I was on them a while if I remember correctly. Rehab has really advanced. Were you on crutches?

Good luck with everything!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
