Kiba 47 Posted January 7, 2016 Hi all! Hope you had a lovely holiday and a Happy New Year coming up! I had an interesting situation this past holiday week; I had the week off on vacation (yay) but to keep up with my regimen, I ate pretty much my usual daily intake and kept up with calorie counting; the only day I went a little over was of course Christmas dinner. Now, I weighted myself and noticed a 5 lb difference! I totally didn't eat 5 lbs worth of calories, so I assumed it was just Water weight since I've been really thirsty and I'm sure I didn't have enough during my vacation week. My question is, how long should it take to readjust this weight change? I feel bloated for sure and I did just get my period, could the combination of the two be causing it? I've been back to my routine since Monday, here I am at Thursday and that number hasn't moved off the scale! Really worried.
JamieLogical 8,710 Posted January 7, 2016 You really shouldn't worry. Like you said, there's no way you ate an extra 17,500 calories! It's definitely just Water weight and will come back off eventually. The important thing to do is get back into your routine of what you know works for you. AvaFern 3,516 Posted January 7, 2016 I traveled last week and at one point the scale was up 3 pounds from my usual weight, despite the fact that I actually ate less than I usually do at home. I've been back a few days and my weight has dropped right back down to where it was before. Like you, I also drank a lot less during my vacation week and once I was back home I was back to drinking a whole lot more, so I'm sure that probably had something to do with it as well. You should be back to your normal weight quickly enough.
BarrySue 602 Posted January 7, 2016 Traveling and disruption of routine can make the body do zany things, and you'd be surprised how easy it is for the body to go "Hey! Wouldn't it be cool to hang onto a few lbs of weight just in case?" Stress, even the good kind, will make your body do annoying things. I gained 4 lbs during an x-mas trip to Vegas, even though I stayed under 1k calories per day (though I did eat some candy). Within 10 days, it was gone along with another 4 lbs. Three weeks after, I'm down 15 lbs from my initial post-Vegas bump.
Kiba 47 Posted January 8, 2016 Oh man, so weird! Going to try and up my Water intake and go back to working out a bit harder this coming weekend. I'll see how the scale shows next week! Thanks guys!
