A NSV and a lady parts funny ... (not dirty, I promise!)

Recommended Posts

So, I haven't seen my PCP since July and had a maintenance check up for my labs. When I arrived at the office she was getting on the elevator just ahead of me and I was headed for the stairs, but I smiled and said hello. She kind of half smiled back and turned into the elevator. Five minutes later she entered my room and and her jaw hit the floor! Apparently she didn't recognize me downstairs and thought I was just being polite when I said hello. I have seen her every 3-4 months for the past 7 years!!! :D Made me feel great.

Now on to the funny ... I was commenting to a coworker about how I need to buy new clothes, again, specifically underwear as I am starting to get the "saggy butt" feeling and it drives me nuts when I feel like my panties are just hanging between my legs. She gave me a REALLY weird look. I guess she wasn't sure WHAT was "hanging between my legs" but says to me "GEEEEEZ Girl! I didn't think you'd have THAAAAT much extra skin down there!!!!"    I just about cried I laughed so hard!

Well done, young lady.....well done.

This post-sleeve losing is filled with all sorts of humorous reactions from the folks that we encounter.

The most recent for me was the store manager at the grocery store I normally use. She saw me at the check out line the morning and spoke as she was working near the front of the store.

By the time I was leaving she spoke again at the entrance/exit......"How ya been.......I've gotta ask, though.....Is everything okay with you". I had assumed it was my slight limp....I explained the tI'd just gotten off work from night shift and the 25 degree weather was harsh on my knees. She nodded and said."And how about everything else...????" I assured her that all was well and I'd been working on losing weight. She grinned a big grin and said she was happy for me.

I think she may have feared that I'd come down with the bird flu and would no longer be a big shopper there.............

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
