New Whey Protein Shots

Recommended Posts

Does anyone use these? I've seen mixed reviews as far as if they are ok to use after WLS. I'm just trying to find a good tasting clear Liquid Protein for after surgery . Thanks!

Ugg. Isopure. Most flavors taste like feet. Apple Melon is tolerable and tastes better cut with Water. Ya know, as far as Protein, clear and tastes good go together, Bone Broth and clear meat stock is about the best there is. Sipping that all day may be the least bad option.

I'm trying a few of the Isopure. I cut them with Water and am fine. broth is good but when ya don't want salty all the time, it's a good alternative.

It's all about individual preference.

Would like to know other options besides isopure

The Isopure are disgusting! If I had to drink those I don't think I could go through with the surgery ☹️. I found the New Whey Protein Shots at Walmart. They aren't good by no means but I can choke it down. They are kind of thick too like a Jello that isn't set up yet. I see so many reviews online about how good the nectar powders are too...I've tried a few and so far the only on that is tolerable to me is the strawberry Mousse mixed with skim milk....tastes like a week strawberry qwick. By far my favorite Liquid Protein (not clear) is the chocolate Premier Protein shakes.

I bought new whey at Walmart. They smelled so bad. Ugh. My doc said pour some in Water and squeeze lemon in it or put sugar free Syrup, but do whatever it takes to drink it. Lots of Protein. I haven't done that yet haha. If you could break that into three times a day, man that 42 g of Protein. I'm sure with Splenda or something added it would be tolerable.

I did Isopure drinks on my two week post op clear liquid diet. I would rather stick needles in my eyes than to drink another one of those EVER.

Great news!! I tried my grape new whey today and it was good! Put some in ice Water and stuck some lemon juice in it. It was good. I used a little over a third of the tube in my first glass then the rest in my second glass.

New whey was the Protein I opted with for the first week post-op. Never having tried these I got the variety pack. Yeeeeeeeaaah, most of the flavors tasted like beef Gelatin that they tried to infuse with fruit flavor. The only one that was decent (to me) was the blue raspberry.

The other advice is to break it up into several intakes per day. My recommendation is no more than 1 oz per setting.

Thinking about this, and wondering why someone gas not pot this in pill form. I would totally take a Protein supplement in 5g per pill form. Let's just bypass the taste buds entirety. Where is THAT product!?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
