swizzle 120 Posted January 6, 2016 Hi Bariatric Babes! Does anyone know if BSCA uses the weight from before the 6 month supervised period, or after? I'm worried that I will lose the few pounds that qualify me, but I want to commit to the program. Does anyone have experience in this? I wasn't able to get an answer from my insurance company yet because I've only started the journey. Thanks!!
swizzle 120 Posted January 6, 2016 I should clarify that I've gone to a Bariatric Center and they've told me that for my health insurance I need to do a 6 month nutritional program, which I can do there. I didn't get a clear answer on whether I'd still be covered if I lost weight during that time, but I'm hoping that my starting weight (today) will be what is used for my bmi for qualification, since -as with most of us- it's easy to lose 10lbs but then it just comes right back anyway! Denise007 13 Posted January 15, 2016 I have Blue Shields of CA and was told that I have the six month waiting period as well. I am going through the Center's nutrition program and was told not to lose our gain weight just to make sure I hit every appointment. I have conflicting information and have tried to call blue shields to find out about the waiting period but they don't even seem to know what their requirements are. The authorization form that they sent me to give to the doctor mentions they would prefer the patient waits three months but I haven't had time to contact them.
