cocoa8utter 32 Posted January 6, 2016 My surgeon didn't take my gall bladder out during my RNY surgery. I am reading a lot of stuff regarding issues with it and gall stones. What can I do to prevent issues with my gall bladder? Any help is appreciated!
Maraki 23 Posted January 9, 2016 (edited) I am the same as you my surgeon prescribed a drug called "IC URSODIOL" sounds like that. I will have to take it for 6 months twice a day. It's supposed to prevent gall stones from happening. Edited January 9, 2016 by Maraki

DDBug 7 Posted January 14, 2016 yes the medicine will help to prevent gallstones but my gallbladder stopped functioning. A normal gallbladder functions at 35% mine dropped to roughly 5% function (meaning it wouldn't pump the bile out) 5 months after my surgery. Had emergency surgery to remove it. All I suggest is stay connected to your surgeon and report any abnormal pain.
