I think I am going to lose TO MUCH weight !

Recommended Posts

I had the band 5 yrs ago, I am 5’4 my starting weight 205, I lost 50 pounds…. Band slipped this summer and had to be removed, started to gain the weight back, and got up to 180. Had the sleeve 2 weeks ago. I have already lost 18 pounds. This so different than the band, I don’t feel hungry at all. I am a afraid I am going to lose to much weight

Worry not! Your weight loss will slow to a more 'normal' pace after your initial large losses at first. The weight always comes off fast at first, then usually your body puts the brakes on in the form of a stall, then the losses even out a bit.

It's actually pretty rare for people to lose 'too much weight'. Most of the complaints are they can't seem to get the remaining 10-20 off the closer they are to goal. You'll be just fine :) Good job!

Are you just not hungry or are you having trouble physically eating? If you simply aren't hungry, that's simple. Make yourself eat. Whether you are hungry or not you still need to hit Protein goals. Make sure you are eating 3-4 small meals a day to hit your goals. Obviously check with your surgeon or nutritionist. If you are having trouble physically eating, eat 5-6 meals a day to hit your Protein and calorie goals.

Sometime around 10-12 months the hunger returned for me. Enjoy it while it lasts!

@@Scottyd1264 - Dude you are going to make yourself nuts! :) Relax, follow the program and stay in communication with your medical team. You are fine. This is normal. At some point you may even experience a stall. Try not to borrow trouble.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
