Almost 46/1st Dr. appt. tomorrow

Recommended Posts

I am so excited. I have tried and tried to do it on my own but I just can't get the weight off. I have my first Dr. appointment on 1/6/16. I see the dietician, for the first time, on 1/26/16. I know my insurance covers the surgery and I qualify with their requirments. I'm pretty sure my Dr. has a 6 month process, which is OK since I'm a teacher and couldn't take off work to have it done. Hopefully, June or July will be my month. I am so EXCITED!!! Want to live and be able to keep up with my kids. Any info for me to think about or suggestions welcome.

I'm happy that you are happy about the possibility of the surgery becoming a new start for you!

I'm less than a week away from surgery and I can share what I know.

1. Cut out all carbonated drinks now. I've learned a lot about how soda expands the liver.

2. Cut out foods that swell in your stomach such as Pasta, breads, and whatever else research tell us.

3. Start taking a good Multivitamin daily.

4. Drink plenty of Water the day before blood work appointment.

Hope this helps!!

Thanks Positive44! I cut out soda awhile ago so that's not a problem. Working on caffeine and coffee now. I started taking a Flintstones Vitamin and a sublingual B12 per NUT. I HATE Water but found if its ice cold I can handle it. I also add True Lemon and am up to about 40 oz a day. The hardest part is the breads...ummmmmmm. I have tried quinoa pasta...is that OK?

congrats on getting to this point! i'm 52 and 6 months post sleeve. as of this morning, i've lost 174 lbs. you will find moving forward that carbs are a well armed, very cunning enemy. pre op a big bowl of good Pasta was my CRACK. post op, i haven't touched it . don't have the desire for it. i would advise you to cut WAY back on carbs, increase your Protein, and embrace water(or 0 calorie, non-carbonated bevs,). your nut will probably advise the same thing. that is the reader's digest version of your post op food plan(diet is a nasty 4 letter word!). good luck. this has saved my life.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
