Dr. Spivak - Houston

I have an appt. tomorrow with Dr. Spivak. I went to an information seminar last fall and found out my insurance will not pay. I have BCBS Health Select group 38000. There is an exclusion clause for wt. loss surgery.

I started out thinking I wanted to have RNY, but as I researched more about both I have decided to go with lapband.

Does anyone know if Dr. Spivak is using the new AP band???

Since I am a self-pay I would like to get the latest band.

I am not sure what band he is using. Did you ask at your appointment?

I had an appointment today and scheduled my surgery for Aug. 14th (Yay!), but I forgot to ask what type of band!

They had the bands on a stomach model at the front desk. The nurse told me they only use the AP band now. I am glad your appointment went well.

We discussed the RNY vs. Band and now I have to make a final decision. I hope to have my surgery within the next 2 weeks. I am off during July and part of August. I have to go back to work the last week in August.

Hello to all Dr Spivak patients. As I am one. I do not know if you know this yet or not but Dr Spivak is having a ball for all of his patients. And I just want to make sure everyone that is Dr Spivak patient knows about this.
