Sorry for the gross subject guys, but I need some help. I'm 2 months post gastric sleeve now. I forgot to take my morning dose of Vitamins (Gastric Multi-Vitamin, Actigall, Omeprazole, Biotin) this morning so I took them 30 minutes after I ate lunch. I waited to long and had to run to the bathroom. This happens occasionally and I've become mostly "used to it" now. But this is the first time I've had blood in my vomit so I called my surgeons office. Her reaction was a gasp and then "Oh no!" The PA is back in the office tomorrow and they will have her call me.

In the meantime, I figured I would ask you guys: have any of you had this issue or know someone who has? Am I worried over nothing? Her silly reaction has got me wondering. ????

I'm in my first post-op VSG week, so I can't help you with any personal experience. That said, your surgeon's office *did* say that you could wait 24 hours to speak to the PA. They didn't tell you to head to the hospital or call your local PCP, so based on that alone I'd think this isn't "critical".

Alarming? Absolutely! Would *I* be worried? Sure. But unless it's happened a 2nd time, I'd think that if the surgeon's office isn't rushing you to an ER, then it's probably okay to wait.

I'm asking if anyone else out there has vomited blood while I wait for the PA. I'm a patient person, just looking for some helpful info in the meantime ???? I'm sorry if I was unclear.

Good luck on your journey! ????

Could it have possibly been coloring from any of the many pills that you took? Just a thought.

Thanks, and sorry for misinterpreting your question. It seemed serious enough to warrant a reply, with the hopes that it might attract the attention of someone with personal experience.

Best of luck, and let us know how things turn out?

That was my first thought too so I checked them before calling the nurse, all are white or off white in color. But I took them with a few sips of pink lemonade crystal light that I put unflavored Protein in. That's the only thing I can think of if its not blood?

I was thinking the same - if not blood, perhaps pills or something you ate for lunch (it seems this was soon after lunch? ). Not comparing you to a dog, but recently my mom called me in a panic, saying my dog had spit up and it looked like streaks of blood. I asked had he eaten recently? "Only a treat." Yup - full of red dyes!

I know it's been awhile since you posted, but I hope you're feeling well and that you'll soon have your answers!

I wonder if it could be due to a small blood vessel that broke from your vomiting?

No sense discussing other causes. You will have a doctor diagnose it, that is important.

Good luck, keep us posted of the results.

Her flight was held but she should be in tomorrow. The nurse scheduled me tomorrow for 8am to be seen and get labs.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
