It sounds to me like you are just hitting a stall! I hit my first at about 3wks out and it lasted almost 3 wks! I was distraught and depressed thinking I went through this surgery and all I got was a lousy 15lbs! It turned out that it's normal to go through stalls and that I needed to boost my Protein because I was exercising a lot. Don't worry, you will lose again, but if you are super worried, call your NUT and ask for advice. It may be time to up your protein.

Stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the weight loss process.

Most people experience their first stall about three weeks after surgery but it can vary.

Just follow your program. Make sure you are getting in all of your Protein and fluids. Take your Vitamins and supplements as instructed. And exercise.

Embrace the Stall!

It is common to experience stalls during your weight loss journey. The important thing to remember is meet the Protein, Fluid, and Vitamin daily requirements. Do some exercise. Do not exceed the meal volume limit. And then let the magic happen!

so frustrating to stall. I checked with my nutritionist who told me it was totally normal - because our bodies are adjusting to the weight loss. A stall or plateau just means that your body is healthy and working to stay healthy. It thinks the rapid weight loss is due to illness or trauma - so it protects you until it adjusts again.

The most important thing you can do is continue to drink as much Water and take in as much Protein...maybe even go back to the Liver Shrink.

Keep us posted!

I am 7 weeks post RNY and I am stalled, even gained 1.5 lbs. I am following my NUT directions with little variation. Dr and NUT aren't much help. I searched to see what I could find. I came across a post on this site regarding stalls. This website provided the best insite to what was happening. I hope it helps others as well. Stay the course! We will get there.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
