Any 12/8/15 Sleeves out there

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery 12/8/15, and surprisingly doing really good. My incision where the stomach was token out of still give me pain but for the most part I'm doing really good.

I just started going to the gym this Friday and just walking on the tread meal until the weight instructor tells me different. I'm not sure if I lost anymore wait since my last appointment with my doctor so I'm hoping that when I get on the scale it's not the same has 3 weeks ago or more.

food Wise someday a I'm really hungry and somedays I'm not. I can fully eat all my soft food, chicken, fish, fat free yogurt, cheese, tuna, oatmeal, etc... with no problems and that makes me feel so weird cause I hear a lot of people that was almost 4 weeks post-op still stuck on Soups. I did something really bad today and I had a smoothie that had a lot of sugar in it and I know that it's really really bad but it was so good and I had a lot so now I'm really full and kinda uncomfortable. I'm still eating way to fast and not chewing enough and when I eat it I can feel in traveling to my stomach. I really need to wrap my head around my new sleeve and stomach. I got a baby spoon and fork to help me out.

tell me what going on with my fellow 3-4 weeks post-op sleeve?

I also had my surgery on 12/8/15! Sounds like you are doing really well! Congrats!

I am doing good I think lol, getting all my Fluid in but still having trouble with the Protein and Vitamins because they both make me sick. I'm trying some different things though. I can pretty much tolerate any food but only a tiny amount so I know I'm not getting an adequate amount of Protein from food alone.

Whenever people ask how I am doing I always answer the same way.. there are good days and bad days. Do you feel like that to sometimes?

I was sleeved 12/7 so just one day before you! Hopefully that is OK?! I am in the same boat. I definitely feel hunger and some days feel like I can eat more than I should compared to some other folks who even at 1 - 3 months out are still really restricted to just a few spoonfuls. Especially soft foods like yogurt, Soups, etc. I can definitely eat more yogurt than say chicken or fish. For example, I can eat an entire 5.3 oz greek yogurt now but maybe 2-3 oz of flaky fish. But as long as I keep my calories in check I feel like I am OK. My doc had me on purees and soft foods from the day I got home from surgery so maybe that is the difference? The people I know who are super restricted were on clear and full liquids for weeks before moving to purees. I am already eating regularly textured food at this point. The good thing about that is I can drink pretty much anything and tolerate just about any foods so getting my Protein in isn't difficult mechanically - I am just really sick of Protein shakes and don't want to drink them anymore!

I started working out again today, took a really long walk this morning (I need to work back up to the gym). Felt good though - I am down 20 pounds since surgery (25 total since pre-op diet) and I felt the difference.

I feel so much better hearing this, I really want to thank you. i don't feel so weird now, because I started my soft foods at 16 post-op and keep asking myself am I moving to fast. I felt like maybe my surgery didn't work at all cause I would feel hungry. you don't know how much this helps me ????????

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
