tips for acid reflux and heartburn

Recommended Posts

i recently had another fill and not over tight. i had to have a defill one time because i was so tight and experience coughing ,joking and reflux.

after eating i wait over 2 hours before i lie down. sometime i try to fall asleep with head up to make sure i don't can't heartburn or reflux. it ends up bothering me through the nite or after i wake up.

i feel i could go for another fill but abviously not.

i am very concerned about this because of ending up getting a esophagus repair down the line and ruining my stomach.

maybe it was that tartar sauce at red lobster. i love my scallops and rice there.

i have to watch the greecy stuff, acidity stuff, or maybe i am eating too much even though i handle it.

is pepto a liquid ok to take than those kinds of rolaids and that galveston or whatever its called?

any advice appreciated.

May want to ask your PCP about a proton pump inhibitor like protonix. Put a 2X4 under the front (casters/stand) of your bed. Build up to a 4x4. Stop going to Red Lobster, they're overpriced. FYI...if you go just order from the appetizer section...my wife had a bypass, me a lap band, three small appeizers or two large ones is our limit. One of the perks of bariatric surgery should be cheaper checks at your favorite feed bag establishment. Remember nothing tastes as good as thin feels.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
