I was on fluids for 3 weeks and wasn't cleared for solids like beef and pork till 6 weeks out, so no, I definitely didn't have those issues. Really surprised your surgeon has you advancing so fast. Your incision isn't anywhere near healed and the staple line is still susceptible to leaking and even getting bits of food stuck in it at this point.

I guess enjoy your fortunately easy recovery, but be careful.

I'm surprised also. I'm five months out and have yet to have beef or pork. So I can't can't really compare to your situation. Good luck!

I am 6 weeks out and was cleared for regular diet at about 4 weeks...I have tried different foods--such as beef and pork...but not until after cleared....I can still only eat a few bites. Soft mushy foods are still a better friend to my stomach than stuff I really have to chew. Be careful not to push yourself you don't want to hurt your new stomach or get back to your old habits.

I'm 3 weeks and still on full liquids. Week 5 is puréed foods, week 6 is soft foods and week 7 starts the adventures into regular eating! I took a miniature bite of lobster on NYE that I pulverized. But otherwise I am following my diet. I'd be afraid of steak and pork for now. But I'm only judging by my external scars and thinking of what my staple line may look like! ???? I hope you have luck!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
