EboneAngl 4 Posted January 3, 2016 So my hair is coming out at an alarming rate! I even have bald spots and it's thinning. I was wondering should I switch to taking prenatal Vitamins to assist in the Hair growth department?
OutsideMatchInside 10,166 Posted January 3, 2016 Are you meeting your Protein goals daily? Are you taking Iron? Are you taking a multi with zinc?
EboneAngl 4 Posted January 3, 2016 When it comes to Protein @@OutsideMatchInside no I'm not meeting my goals bcz mr. Sleeve won't allow me. I do get in 50 to 60 grams in per day tho
Kindle 8,667 Posted January 3, 2016 Protein is the number 1 way to prevent hair loss . And 50-60 g isn't bad. Can you tolerate Protein shakes? Do you add unflavored Protein to Soups, broths, etc? 1 cup plain Fage Greek yogurt flavored with 1/2 scoop vanilla Protein powder = 33g. that plus 1 Premier Protein and you're already over 60g. Tried Quest bars? 20g in 1 bar. But really, if you're going to lose your going to lose and nothing you can go about it. It's your body's reaction to the stress of surgery and change in nutrition. Protein, Biotin and some shampoos and treatments like rogain can MAYBE help speed up regrowth, but nothing can stop the loss itself.
OutsideMatchInside 10,166 Posted January 3, 2016 Protein is the building block of the body. Even though you are losing you can regrow hair pretty fast if your protein intake is high enough. If you aren't getting enough protein in, your hair won't regrow well.
now4me 3 Posted January 4, 2016 I'm in the same boat with Hair loss. I need to work harder on getting in more Protein.
Susan66 128 Posted January 4, 2016 Check your Multi Vitamins to see if they contain Biotin. Just the other day I noticed that mine has it.
lauriev 71 Posted January 6, 2016 I am having the hardest time getting the Protein in, thanks for the tricks on getting more @Kindle. I get in a rut thinking that I need to mix the powder and make a drink out of it, I don't think about mixing it in food. I am getting so tired of drinking everything - I just want some food even if it is only pudding or yogurt!! I also bought some Biotin from Target pharmacy, it is melt a way tablets and they are pretty tiny. I am taking them, not sure if they are doing anything or not, but I am taking them religiously. I figure it can't hurt!

TJBintheOC 104 Posted January 22, 2016 Hair loss is normal. It's a combination of hormones, the rapid weight loss, different diet...mine started to fall out around 4 mos, and lasted 3 mos. I lost 50% of my hair. It's growing back now. I tried not to stress and did what I could. Good luck.
