10 months out and not happy

Recommended Posts

Well, to say the least I am unhappy. My depression has gone through the roof. I was 14 pounds of my goal weight and was feeling great. Now I have slipped over the last 6 months and have moved 36 away from my goal weight.

I know when I get depressed, I drink more coffee with very little natural sugars. I can't find a meal plan that works and I don't feel full when I over eat. The only thing I dump with is sweets, except for gum balls.

I want their to be a specific dietian that caters to Sleeve to RNY. Part of my surgical team is to meet with a nutritionist, I have done that twice and all get is hand outs. I want a shopping list, how to prepaid and nutritional values. Again feeling frustrated and giving up.

Sorry but I needed to vent.

The strategy during the "Maintenance" phase is different than during the "Weight Loss" phase. The following provides my experience with the "Maintenance" phase. http://www.breadandbutterscience.com/Surgery2.pdf

Some surgery offices do not have great post-op care. This is an older thread but in case you ever check back in my advice would be to see you Psychiatrist and get your depression treated first. Also, if you could get in to counseling that may help as well. Then back to basics with your eating, making a decision to cut out all sweets, high dairy products and coffee and look to Protein first then low carbs and fats. I hope things are better for you.

I'd forgotten how helpful I found your blog, and now that I'm a week post-op, even more so.

It just lays it out in a wonderfully straight, easy to follow path. Thanks again.

I'm 60 and I look forward to that re-newed energy you spoke of; it would be amazing to do things like go swimming without fear of taking my shirt off in public, things like that.

My plan necessitates that I finally learn to cook and to get in the habit of cooking because my leaning would be towards vegetarianism; nothing moral here, simply for health., So here we go!!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.

Lost my Pup last month and struggled really hard for that first month. Stopped tracking intake and slid into old habits here and there. Also quit working out. Can't walk in the neighborhood because of all of the memories we shared. Losing my Pup is the most heartbreaking thing I've ever been through. My Pup was my world 💔
Talked to my doc during my one year followup and they were not worried about my current status. They know, and I know, that I will get back on track.

I'm so sorry. I lost my pup (Mr. Bitters - a chocolate Pomeranian) 2 years ago and it still makes me tear up. He was my everything - my constant companion. I understand. Do the best you can to get back on track.
