ForeverHealthy 22 Posted January 3, 2016 Hello Everyone, I am new to this site and I first want to thank everyone for their stories of struggle and inspiration. This is truly a very warm and welcoming community, so thank you from the "Newbie". ???? One of the (many) questions I have is about the gall bladder being removed during the bypass proceedure. I have gall stones so my surgeon would consider taking the gall bladder out along with the stones. I was wondering, after the Bypass is completed, does your body use the gall bladder anyway? Will it cause more issues if it's out? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance, ForeverHealthy ????
Pinkgirl1234 761 Posted January 3, 2016 Best to get it out...My first WLS was lapband back in 2004....2008 the gallbladder sent me to the ER.....if it becomes a problem it is rough!
BeverlyJanica93 2 Posted January 3, 2016 My surgeon took mine out in September.. He told me that since I've had trouble with it, that it's best it comes out. He said most end up having it taken out after surgery anyway.
grandmaofone 411 Posted January 3, 2016 I had the sleeve on 6/15 everything was going good until around November I ended up having my gallbladder removed on 12/29 and wished my doctor would of just took it out at the time of surgery. It would of saved me from having to have another surgery and recovery. If your dr will take it out out the same time do it!!!!!

Less strain on your body because one less surgery on your body later on!!

tross10779 11 Posted January 26, 2016 I had mine removed on the 7th and I am having my bypass surgery on feb 1st. My doc wouldn't do it at the same time and I refused to delay my bypass surgery so he just took it. Luckily he will "reuse" some of the incisions for the bypass surgery.
