Since waiting for them to start the 2016 thread, I know there are many who are having surgery in January. What are some of your dates?

Mine is January 20th. I'm starting the liquid diet this week and not looking forward to it. Being realistic. liquids for a month does not appeal but in the long run will be worth it I know. :)

I'm Jan 25 - and don't have to start my pre-op until Jan 18. I have started giving things up this week - pop, sweets, etc - to make it a little easier. I hope to keep my anxiety in check and not get shingles this time. I was set for Oct 2015 and had to reschedule - so fingers crossed that I stay healthy :)

Mine is 1/26. Have to start the liquid diet on 1/12. I have to travel 5 hours out of town on 1/15, then we are having a party at our house on 1/16. Oh how I am dreading those days!! Going to do my best to stick with it, but it is going to be tough.

I'm having the sleeve surgery on 1/29 with Dr. John Raheb with Kaiser Permanente. Starting the 13 day liver shrinking diet on 1/15 which I'm also dreading! 1 day liquid, the day before surgery.

My friend lost 19 lbs on the 13 day pre-op diet so I'm looking forward to similar results!!! ????

We are all on the path to being healthy! Go us! ????????

Mine was on Monday, January 4th. I am now home but in quite a bit of pain. Mostly everything I read said they didn't have much pain after surgery but man, did I struggle! I was able to walk a lot that night which helped but I have a horrible "side stitch" on my left side that isn't going away. Can't wait to see the light at the end of the tunnel!

Congrats on the start to your new and improved life! ???? my friend also had pain and it got better each day. My husband had rny 9 years ago and had a stitch on his right rib that created a dent and hurt really bad but it got better as time passed and he lost weight. Hang in there!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
