My surgery is on Monday. Need to report to the hospital at 5:30 am. I know my sister loves me because she offered to drive me. She is not a morning person.

This liquid diet stinks and I have been sleeping a lot since I am exhausted. Lots of sf Jello, sf Popsicles and hot tea. I had some broth but it was not sitting well.

All I can think of is food and when I fed the dog this evening even the dog food smelled good. Don't worry I did not eat any. ;)

Just grabbed a bottle of Water and cleaned my bedroom instead. Any one have any pointers for the liquid diet stage? I have been dreaming about cheeseburgers...I don't even like cheeseburgers.

Wish me luck!

Nancy

My surgery is Wednesday. Good luck! It hasn't hit me yet that it is so soon, it feels like the last couple of months have flown by. My surgeon doesn't require a pre op diet, but I am trying to replace as many meals this last week with Protein Shakes to get my body used to not physically eating. I've bought a lot of crystal light mix, diet snapple, fruit2o and Unjury chicken broth Protein for my all liquid after surgery though. Good luck again!!

Just entered the site....my surgery is January 14. Started my pre-op yesterday.....it's very hard...but holding my own. I keep thinking about food...I'm hoping by end of day tomorrow, I will be better. Its good your surgery is early....you will likely not be delayed! Best of luck!

Things must be pretty bad if dog food is starting to smell good....lol. You are so close to the big day. Hang in there. This is you doing your part to ensure a safe surgery. Good luck!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
