Dairy Issues ???? Severe Stomach Pain ????

Recommended Posts

I'm pre-op and hoping for a date of 1/21. I have an issue with dairy. As soon as I eat a piece of cheese or drink a little milk (lactaid, soy, almond, or skim) it almost instantly curdles and makes my stomach hurt SO bad. There's been a few times months ago I'd have a cheeseburger and the cheese hurt my stomach so bad I had to throw up to get it out of my stomach to stop the pain. So now I'm worried about Protein Powder. Even if I buy lactose free it might effect me the same as lactose free milk does. I've seen a doctor and they have no idea what could be wrong except I might be allergic to the Protein in milk. So what in God's green earth do I do? Anyone else have this issue?

I don't know if this will help or not but it may be worth checking out. Through my profession I had a child who was able to be tested to see if he was allergic to milk. Maybe ask your doctor if this is a test you can get done???

The doctor said lactose intolerance makes u have diarrhea? I'm the opposite. I can't go for a week after a baby piece of cheese and I even take Fiber gummies everyday.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
