Thx4dinner 10 Posted January 2, 2016 I am looking for a doctor in Phoenix, AZ. I've read about a couple but i've heard some bad reviews on most. Where did you go? would you recommend? Please help!
SuperDave 1,115 Posted January 2, 2016 (edited) I went to Dr. David Podkameni at the Banner Gateway Weight Loss Center in Mesa/Gilbert. (US60 and Higley Rd.) They have a great program there, and Dr. Pod is awesome. For the record, he has performed 2 other surgeries on me, in addition to the Sleeve. I have 100% confidence in his abilities. I have also worked with Dr. Chen at this location, and he is a fantastic doctor as well. I believe Banner has another weight loss location somewhere in the west valley. That might be closer to you if you are actually in Phoenix. Send me a message if you have any questions. I would be happy to answer them for you! I'm in Tempe actually so Gilbert isn't too bad at all but I'm not opposed to driving further for a good surgeon. It's funny you say Banner because I was just doing a little search and found that banner has that WLS location and I was pretty interested. I will definitely look into that! I think they've got some seminars that I will go to as well. Thanks again!
SuperDave 1,115 Posted January 2, 2016 Yes, if you go to the initial bariatric surgery seminar, they have you fill out a patient info form. They will then contact your insurance company to check coverage and requirements before they call you back to schedule your first appointment. It was pretty convenient. Overall I thought they did a pretty good job with the entire process.
