3 weeks post op gpass stall weight loss

Recommended Posts

When should I worry about not losing any more weight at the 3 week mark? I can't lose beyond 140 lbs. Am I worrying pre-maturely? Currently at the pureed stage. Please help with your responses. Thanks in advance.

Now is not the time to worry.

None of us lose at a constant or steady rate. We all have stalls and slow downs of weight loss. Almost everyone experiences a stall about three weeks after surgery. You are right on schedule.

Stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process of losing weight.

Just follow your program. Focus on getting in all of your Protein and fluids every day. Take your Vitamins and supplements as directed. And exercise.

Embrace the Stall!

Mind if I ask why you can't lose beyond 140 lbs? Was this restriction self imposed, or did you doctor advise you of this?

Like stated in the first reply you should definitely not be worry anytime soon. There are a lot of factors that play into your weight loss including your starting weight, level of activity, etc. The more you weigh typically the faster you'll lose. Regardless of that I wouldn't worry about losing too much. As long as you keep up with your f/u appointments, stay in touch with your doctor & nutritionist, and keep to the plan....you'll be fine.

You've lost 140 pounds already!!!!!! You've put in alot of hard work my dear! :D The surgery itself adds weight. I was weighed in my hospital bed day 2 post surgery and weighed 10 lbs more.

If you're following the diet for each stage, you'll lose more.

I'm a month post op and have "only" lost 30 lbs from my presurgery weight.

Just into my third week and have stalled a bit as well. Lost 15lb before surgery and 15 after but have been flatlining for the last 4 days. I'm happy for what I've lost but can sure see that my body needs a break to deal with the changes before hopping on the slide again!

I felt the same fear you have right now. At my 3wk mark, I stalled and my stall lasted almost 3 wks! I went into my NUT visit feeling like an utter failure until she told me she wasn't worried and I just needed to up my Protein to cover my activity! She was right! As soon as I added a second Protein Drink in my day my weight went right down again! Just be patient and give your body what it needs and it will do what it needs to do. You will start losing again, just be patient and for me, I know I have to be very careful with carbs at all otherwise it knocks me right out of ketosis every time.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
