tdawntaylor 10 Posted January 2, 2016 I am 2.5 weeks post-op, and down a total of 34lbs (including 2 week pre-op liquids). I am just curious when your highest periods of loss occurred, and how long the rapid loss will keep up? I only have an additional 34 to lose to be at my personal goal, then another 15 to be at my Dr.'s goal for me. I would love the loss to keep up like it has been, but won't mind too terribly if it slows down soon either. I just would like to know what to expect! Inner Surfer Girl 12,015 Posted January 2, 2016 Everyone loses at different rates at different times. You will stall and your weight loss will slow down, especially as you get close to goal. Almost everyone in experiences their first stall about three weeks after surgery, so your weight loss will slow down or stall soon. Don't let that discourage you. It's a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process. Just follow your program. catwoman7 11,221 Posted January 2, 2016 people seem to have biggest drops the first month or two (other than during the infamous "three week stall".
Kathy Coop 193 Posted January 2, 2016 Depends on your start weight. I went from 368 to 240 in 5 months. Then I got pregnant and stalled for 9 months. After baby was born in September I was 155 by Christmas.
jj7481 363 Posted January 2, 2016 I'm 18 days post op and still averaging about a 1 lb wgt loss / day. Again, it depends on your starting weight. I've also made sure to resume my exercise program so the 3 wk stall is minimized.
Djmohr 6,965 Posted January 2, 2016 I am 15 months post op. For me the biggest losses were in the first 4 months, then everything slows down but remains consistent with stalls every 4 to 6 weeks. The longest stall for me was 28 days.
Pedro Valle-Inclan 275 Posted January 2, 2016 Seems your questions have been well addressed here. Well, My team and I have never discussed this, but reading this I just decided to weigh myself ONLY once a week like I do now. What do others do??? thanks

Like Inner Surfer Girl, I initially thought I would just weigh in at doctors visits. Personally, I'm still not comfortable with weighing myself every day as of yet due to not seeing the losses, discouragement, etc. Nevertheless, I have started weighing myself once a week also just to keep tabs on progress. My family is very supportive of my choice and wants to see me succeed. Initially (when I started the pre-op diet) I was getting asked how much weight I've lost. After surgery my mother is asking almost daily. At first I was annoyed but now I know it's because she just wants to be excited with me. To each their own. I told my mom right after my first follow-up visit that I wouldn't be sharing numbers. Now, when anyone asks I can truthfully tell them that I don't even share that number with my mom.
