Hey Everyone,

I feel like I am at a stall. I am at the end of my 3rd week post op and I haven't lost anything this week. I am in the "pureed Stage" of my diet but have no idea what kinds if food I should be eating. Does anyone have any suggestions on this topic? Has anyone had a stall this early? What kind of foods did you eat during the "pureed stage"? Also can you have smoothies during this time with added Protein powder? Please anything helps. Like I said I'm only 3 weeks out and very new to this.

Thank you so much!

I can't help you with your question about the puréed stage since I didn't have one. I went from full liquids to soft foods. Did your NUT give you any guidelines or suggestions?

As to stalls, stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the weight loss process. Everyone stalls. And most people experience their first stall about three weeks post op.

Just follow your program. Focus on reaching your Protein and Fluid target every day. Take your Vitamins and supplements as directed. And exercise.

Embrace the Stall!

Just about everyone stalls at three weeks out. Don't sweat it. Perfectly normal.

As far as your pureed foods go, the rules laid down by my team were:

--high Protein foods only (dairy/meat/fish/eggs/beans/soy)

--no more than 3 tablespoons of food per meal

--3 meals per day, no Snacks other than calorie-free liquids and Protein Shakes.< /p>

Inner surfer girl what have you had when eating soft foods?

A lot of Greek yogurt and cottage cheese!

I also ate/eat a lot of refried Beans, soft fish, etc.

Try the ricotta bake that is on The World According to Eggface blog. That blog has lots of recipes if you cook.

I am at 3 as well and just saw dr. They told me to expect a stall as your body adjusts for awhile. She said just to ain't a in my 60 g Protein and try to start maintaining no more than 60 carbs. She said that I need to focus 0n healing and that would require the body to stall in weight loss.

I just joined this group because I am experiencing the same thing. I was like I am eating so little foods how can I not be losing weight. I am trying to embrace the stall, but when does it typically end. It is quite mind boggling. I have the 40 pouch if that makes a difference.

Thanks so much!

am so totally frustrated ! Maybe someone can clarify for me. I am 4 weeks postop, eating soft foods...turkey,puréed Soup yogurt, cottage cheese, Baby Bells, etc. I take in about 450 to 550 calories, 40-60 g of Protein and most days drink 36oz Water (sometimes a little more) and I have not lost any weight in 3 weeks since my first doctors apt a week after surgery. I cannot believe I went threw all this and feel like such a failure. What should I do ?!

What can you do? Eat and drink more.

You need at least 64 oz of Fluid every day.

You need to meet or exceed your Protein target every day. What is your target? Mine is 100 grams a day. Some people have 80 grams as a target. I rarely see one under 80 grams.

You need to take your Vitamins and supplements as instructed, every day.

Focus on reaching those goals and stay off the scale for a while. You will lose weight, but probably not much until you start getting enough nutrition.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
