I found that I just couldn't lay flat for the first couple weeks. I slept on our recliner with my feet up. So, so much more comfortable.

It helps if you sleep on your side to put a pillow between your legs, especially after you lose some significant weight.

I had to sleep on my left side because i had a drain, but I'm a weird sleeper and I sleep in basically any position that feels comfortable at the time.

I don't have a drain but I am uncomfortable....sleep on my back with pillows around me.

As long as I didn't sleep on my stomach I was ok. Most of the time I slept on my R side.
